Digital Camera Memory

The memory on a digital camera is often the most overlooked piece of equipment when it comes to digital photography. There are numerous types of memory available to you and many people just grab the first one that comes with their camera. The digital camera memory is what holds all of your pictures. How many pictures it will hold is very dependent on how much memory you have. You should do your research when it comes to buying memory because it is extremely important to make sure you not only have enough memory but memory that matches your megapixel count. The more megapixels you have, the higher your memory needs to be.

There is no fixed rule for the amount of photos you can have on one card because of the different file types, the different amount of compression, and the content in which you are shooting. You may want to start by looking at the manufacturer of your computer and see what general guidelines they give for your particular camera. For today's needs and the large number of megapixels that cameras offer you should consider getting at least 512mb or a 1GB memory card. There just isn't anything worse then going out for the day to take pictures, only to find you don't have enough space to keep all the beautiful shots you have in front of you.
